Privacy Policy

Account information

When you register, we collect your mobile number, name, and optionally your email address. If you choose to complete KYC, we collect government-issued ID details (Aadhaar, PAN) solely for identity verification purposes.

Listing & transaction data

We store the listings you create (including photos, descriptions, and prices), bids you place, offers you make, and all completed transactions on the platform.

Location data

We collect your approximate location (city/pincode) to show you relevant nearby listings. Precise GPS is only accessed if you explicitly grant permission for local listing discovery.

Device & usage data

We automatically collect device type, OS version, IP address, browser type, pages visited, and app interactions via our analytics infrastructure. This helps us improve the product and detect fraud.

Payment information

We do not store your card numbers, UPI IDs, or CVV. Payments are processed by Razorpay, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. We only receive transaction confirmation tokens.

To provide the service

Your data is used to operate the marketplace — creating your account, matching buyers with sellers, processing payments through escrow, and facilitating delivery.

To ensure trust & safety

We use identity data and transaction history to compute BechScore, detect fraud, prevent scams, and comply with Indian IT Act requirements for user verification.

To improve the platform

Anonymised and aggregated usage data helps us understand how people use Bechmaaro, which features to build next, and where to fix friction.

To communicate with you

We send transactional notifications (order status, payment confirmation), occasional product updates, and — with your consent — promotional offers. You can opt out of marketing at any time.

With other users

Your display name, city, BechScore, and listing details are visible to other users. Your contact number is never shared publicly — communication happens through in-app chat.

With service providers

We share data with trusted third parties that help us operate — cloud hosting (AWS), payment processing (Razorpay), analytics, and customer support tools. All processors are bound by data processing agreements.

With regulators

We comply with lawful requests from Indian government authorities, courts, or law enforcement agencies under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and relevant rules.

We never sell your data

Bechmaaro does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers or data brokers. Ever.

Active accounts

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request account deletion at any time via Profile → Settings → Delete Account.

After deletion

After you delete your account, we retain anonymised transaction records for 7 years as required by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules and for financial audit purposes. Personally identifiable data is purged within 30 days of a valid deletion request.

Access & correction

You can view and update most of your personal information directly from your profile. For data you cannot edit yourself, contact us at privacy@bechmaaro.com.

Portability

You may request a machine-readable export of your personal data at any time by emailing privacy@bechmaaro.com.

Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data. Note that certain financial records may be retained for the legally mandated period.

Opt-out of marketing

Unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link at the bottom of the email, or update your notification preferences in the app.

How we protect your data

We use TLS encryption for all data in transit, AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest, and role-based access controls so that only authorised personnel can access your information. We conduct regular security audits and penetration tests.

Breach notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you within 72 hours via email or in-app notification, as required by applicable law.

What we use

Our website uses essential cookies (required for login and security), analytics cookies (to understand usage), and preference cookies (to remember your language and filters). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

Your choices

You can manage cookie preferences through our Cookie Settings page or your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect platform functionality.

Age requirement

Bechmaaro is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will delete their account and data immediately. Contact us at privacy@bechmaaro.com if you believe a minor has created an account.

How we notify you

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
